Once all the ideas are in the right order and the details are decided, there can still be logical or technical issues to resolve. Even highly polished manuscripts can always benefit from a second look by a seasoned professional.

I have over ten years of varied editing experience, and I’ve worked effectively with writers in multiple fields and career phases.

My Approach

A good editor is, first, an attentive reader—someone who considers the goals, possibilities, and fine details of a piece of writing. When I work with you, I aim to be that reader, and look at your work with a keen and generous eye. My job is to ask questions and offer suggestions to help you craft stronger, more engaging stories and scholarly arguments, increasing your chances of publishing in a top journal or with your target press.

What I Offer

I provide structural, stylistic, and copy editing to:

• Academic presses.

• Humanists and social scientists who aim to publish articles in peer-reviewed journals or books with scholarly presses.

• Trade non-fiction and fiction writers who seek to publish with traditional presses or in reputable literary journals.

I also offer proofreading to presses, and manuscript and job document reviews to individual scholars.

I don’t work with authors who are pursuing self- or hybrid publishing options, but I’m happy to make referrals to colleagues who do. I’m also happy to refer you to colleagues who provide services I don’t, such as indexing or translation.
