Editing Rates
I am happy to work with presses at their standard editing or proofreading rates.
My rates for individual clients start at:
$0.035 per word for copy editing;
$0.045 per word for combined line and copy editing; and
$0.055 per word for structural/developmental editing.
If you had a 10,000-word article, for example, those rates would work out to a starting fee of $350.00 for copy editing, $450.00 for combined line and copy editing, and $550 for structural editing.
Rates for rush orders or ones that require heavy work may be slightly higher.
Editing fees are payable in Canadian dollars if a client is in Canada and in US dollars if they’re located elsewhere. Payment is accepted by direct deposit, e-transfer, PayPal, or cheque. Due to Canada Revenue Agency rules, I’m required to charge GST/HST on all Canadian projects.
Rates for Other Services
My starting rate for business writing is $40.00 per hour.
Fees for job document reviews/refreshes range between $200.00 and $800.00, depending on the volume of material and the amount of work required.
Fees for manuscript evaluations are $0.02 per word up to 50,000 words, and $0.0125 thereafter.

the type of editing help you think you might need;
any specific concerns or questions you have about your draft;
the length of your draft (in words, not pages); and
when you need the draft returned to you.
If you can provide a three- to five-page sample, that will also be helpful.
